Job Summary

The Distribution Equipment Operator is responsible for operating material handling equipment to transport, load, and unload steel products within the production facility and distribution areas. This role ensures the safe and efficient movement of raw materials, finished goods, and scrap while adhering to operational and safety standards.

Job Responsibilities 1

Operate forklifts, cranes, conveyors, and other material handling equipment to move steel products.

Safely load and unload steel materials from trucks, conveyors, and storage areas as per standard operating procedures.

Maintain accurate records of material movement, stock levels, and distribution logs.

Follow all workplace safety regulations, including PPE usage, load capacity limits, and equipment maintenance checks.

Inspect materials for damage before transportation and report any defects or irregularities.

Conduct pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on handling equipment to ensure operational readiness.

Work closely with production, warehouse, and shipping teams to ensure smooth material flow.

Identify opportunities for improving material movement efficiency and reducing handling time.

Be prepared to respond to emergency situations, including equipment malfunctions and load spills.

Ensure compliance with environmental regulations for material handling and waste disposal.

Job Knowledge & Skills

Experience in operating forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material-handling machinery.

Understanding of steel product handling, storage, and distribution requirements.

Knowledge of workplace safety standards, load balancing, and hazardous material handling.

Ability to track material movement and assist with inventory control procedures.

ERP knowledge preferably SAP functional skills are a requirement to be successful in this role.

Job Experience

Minimum 1 year working experience/relevant experience, GCC experience is a plus
