Job Summary

The Senior Steel QC Technician is responsible for overseeing and executing quality control processes in steel manufacturing, fabrication, or construction operations. This role ensures that all steel materials and finished products meet industry standards and company specifications through thorough inspections and testing. The Senior QC Technician also plays a key role in troubleshooting quality issues, improving operational efficiency, and mentoring junior QC technicians. This position is hands-on and works closely with production, logistics, and operations teams to maintain quality and safety standards.

Job Responsibilities 1

Conduct inspections of raw materials, in-process, and finished steel products on the production floor to ensure compliance with quality standards.

Perform ultrasonic, magnetic particle, radiographic, and dye penetrant testing, along with tensile and hardness tests, as required.

Collaborate with operations teams to identify and resolve quality issues during manufacturing or fabrication processes.

Ensure all steel products meet industry standards such as ASTM, ASME, ISO, and customer specifications.

Identify material defects and production errors, lead root cause investigations, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.

Work closely with machine operators, welders, and supervisors to ensure quality requirements are met in daily operations.

Maintain real-time records of inspections, test results, and non-conformance reports for process improvements and audits.

Provide recommendations to optimize production efficiency while maintaining high-quality standards.

Support and guide junior QC staff in quality control techniques, operational best practices, and compliance procedures.

Ensure all quality control activities align with safety protocols and workplace regulations to maintain a safe operational environment.

Job Knowledge & Skills

Strong understanding of steel production, fabrication, welding, and material handling processes in an operational setting.

Hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments, non-destructive testing (NDT), and mechanical testing methods.

Ability to analyze defects, troubleshoot quality issues, and implement corrective measures in real-time production environments.

Competence in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, managing quality processes, and mentoring team members.

ERP knowledge, preferably SAP functional skills.

Job Experience

Minimum 3 years working experience, 2 years relevant working experience, 1 year GCC experience is a plus.

Bachelor's Degree
