Job Summary
The Assistant Specialist in Cardiology is responsible for delivering care for patients with cardiac symptoms, under close supervision of the Cardiology Consultant. They are required to assess medical history, initiate physical examination, interpret physical signs, order investigations, interpret results and draw plans of action under the guidance of the cardiology consultant. The assistant specialist is required to support the cardiology outpatient department and assist outpatient procedures within the granted privileges and the acquired skills under the direction of the clinical supervisor.
Job Responsibilities 1
Delivers high-quality, evidence-based care within cardiology services.
Assesses and reassesses inpatients and/or outpatients on a regular basis, as assigned by the cardiology consultant, in line with approved clinical privileges and established best practices.
Conducts daily rounds on in-patients and participates periodically in department grand rounds, in line with established best practices.
Regularly reviews results of all investigations and modifies treatments as required under the supervision of the relevant consultant.
Provides clinical excellence by effective and efficient diagnoses, manages, and treats all patients placed under post holder’s supervisor.
Provides clinical care under the direction of consultants as per the hospital clinical care model.
Performs other clinical duties and participates in emergency cases assessment and procedures as assigned and privileged
Liaises with other healthcare providers and disciplines within and outside the Hospital, when appropriate, to offer a comprehensive and holistic care for cardiac patients with the agreement of the responsible cardiologist.
Maintains vigilance to risk mitigation in both medical and operational aspects, by utilizing incident reporting system in a timely appropriate manner.

Refers patients to other appropriate specialties, as applicable, in accordance with approved clinical privileges, skills and training along with agreement of the consultant on service.
Actively participates in teaching through the regular weekly and monthly hospital educational meetings and contributes to the planning and delivering of these sessions.
Actively participates in interdisciplinary meetings to help plan effective, safe, and holistic care for cardiac patients.
Contributes to training junior doctors, nursing and health care assistants in delivering high quality cardiac care for patients, utilizing training methods, resources and facilities with APEX Health effectively.
Reports any malpractices or misuses of organization resources through the normal channels within the hospital policies.
Supports, implements, and follows all hospital, departmental and divisional initiatives, policies and procedures.
Complies with all hospital policies regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, surgical procedures, discharge protocols, outpatient and follow up practices.
Complies with the Medical Staff Bylaw, code of Medical Ethics and Rules and Regulations of the medical staff.

Job Knowledge & Skills
Strong Knowledge of the Healthcare system.
Solid knowledge and experience in cardiology services.
Previous exposure to and adequate experience of an Acute Care Facility (CCU/ICU/SICU, etc.)
Comprehensive knowledge of Accreditation Process, with particular emphasis on JCI (and preferably in more than one facility.)
Demonstrated ability to work within a matrix organization integrating knowledge of, and respect for, functions and reporting lines of other departments.
High degree of self-organization, as well as highly successful communication, relationship, and engagement skills.
Job Experience
Minimum 1 years of experience in Specialty in Public, Academic or Semipublic hospital (required)
Minimum 1 years in GCC (preferred)
