Bar Supervisor

Job Summary

Responsible for the day-to-day operation in the bar. Present and sell the beverage specialty, ensuring the bar is clean, order taken properly, beverage deliver accordingly and the highest level of customer service is maintained at all the times.

Job Responsibilities 1

Principal Accountabilities

  • Oversees all bar staff, customer service and operations ensuring that the bar runs smoothly and that excellent service is provided to all visitors.
  • Assists the Managers in the smooth running of the department
  • Ensures that all cash/financial procedures are carried out correctly and fully and that management receives all reports promptly and to the required standards. Cash takings are accurately recorded and reconciled

Job Responsibilities 2

1. Oversees the bar and manage other bartenders to ensure a high level of service and masterful drink preparation.
2. Ensures all opening and closing tasks are completed quickly and correctly to prepare for the next day of operation.
3. Manage labor, create schedules, and make sure enough bartending staff is always available to satisfy all guests.
4. Takes drink orders during busy times, prepare special drinks, and serve them professionally and quickly.
5. Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers
6. Ensures cleanliness and ensure that high standards are maintained at all times   (Clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment, Clean bars, work areas, and tables).
7. Serves snacks or food items to customers seated at the bar
8. Prepares orders or requisition beverages and supplies
9. Create drink recipes. Slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks
10. Arrange bottles in fridge, bottles and glasses to shelves to make attractive displays
11. Plan, organize, and control the operations of the bar.
12. In-charge of Daily Stock In, Stock Out, Inventory, Spillage and Spoilage. Maintain an overview of stock and manage physical stock control during shifts,
13. Ensures that the display of food is maintained, food kept at the required temperatures and ensuring cleanliness and the best possible presentation of food at all times.
14. Maintain and ensure adherence to effective security procedures, including opening and closing procedures
15. Manage the café/bar team during your shifts, ensuring staff carry out their work to the expected standards at all times
16. Carries out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the post as requested by your line manager.

Job Knowledge & Skills

  • Have full knowledge of beverage lists and promotions
  • Have full knowledge of all menu items, garnishes, contents and preparation methods
  • Familiar with all kinds of standard drinks, and extensive service experience
  • Supervisory experience and familiar with completing leadership and administrative tasks
