Job Summary

The CSSD Manager is responsible for the twenty-four (24) hour planning, organizing, directing, and controlling of the daily operations and clinical practice of assigned patient care areas, to provide quality care and support philosophies of The View Hospital.

The CSSD Manager requires a strategic approach to the development of services and structures, embracing continuous quality improvement and the management of changes necessary to achieve organizational objectives. The Manager is responsible for the provision of decontamination service for all reusable medical services, processes and procedures to all clinical areas and services within the hospital and any outsourcing of same. The CSSD Manager will be responsible for the development and implementation and maintaining the effectiveness of the decontamination quality management system in line with regulatory authority standards of the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) and relevant accreditation requirements.

Job Responsibilities 1

Responsible for the quality assurance of monitoring and reporting of the effectiveness of decontamination services, liaising with external bodies and working alongside peers to further enhance the level of decontamination.

Introduces and maintains monitoring, audit, quality, and evaluation systems, ensuring that the agreed KPIs are met, and service delivery is within budgeted resources.

Encourages improvement in decontamination technology across services, ensuring continuing development and adoption of best practice, value for money and the development of policies related to OR, Endoscopy, Infection Control, etc.

Uses extensive knowledge and understanding of decontamination, clinical and technical processes as well as understanding of legislative requirements to analyze any problems encountered and propose remedies and solutions ensuring the clinical safety of the patient.

Job Responsibilities 2

Ensures training and development needs for all staff engaged in the process of decontamination are clearly identified and to promote learning that underpins the needs of MOPH and Joint Commission International accreditation.

Develop internal procedures for correct testing and validation regimes of all relevant decontamination processing equipment within decontamination.

Ensures that all relevant processing equipment is compliant with the appropriate procedures and other guidance, thus providing best practice and minimizing clinical risks while providing quality service.

 Implements and monitors audit programs which benchmark services against current standards relating to decontamination.

Undertakes performance data analysis and report to the Infection Prevention and Control Committee with appropriate recommendations.

Basic Life Support

Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM)

Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) from Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)

Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Supervisor (CSPDS) from Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)

Ability to apply advanced knowledge of science/learning/specialized intellectual instruction to analyze, interpret or make deductions from varying facts or circumstances

Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills to enhance and adapt work, services and/or care based on the needs of the specific population served

Ability to provide and/or support a level of work excellence and accuracy; recognize and address flaws or errors that others may overlook

Ability to demonstrate time management and priority setting skills

Ability to use software applications and operate technological devices (e.g., computer, laptop, tablet, smartphone, etc.)

Ability to interpret and apply knowledge of standards to comply with regulations

Job Experience

Minimum 10 years (required)

Minimum 7 years as CSSD Leader

Minimum 1 year in GCC (preferred)

Diploma in Medical Sterilization Management & Operation Theatre Course (2 Years Course)

Diploma in CSSD Technology (2 Years Course)
