Job Summary
The Manager – Clinical Risk - will be responsible for developing, overseeing, and coordinating a clinical risk management and patient safety program for the Hospital, which includes budgeting, design, delivery and evaluation of programs and services. S/He will establish a vision which supports the Hospital’s overall strategy and its efforts to ensure the delivery of high quality healthcare services while mitigating risks, maintaining business continuity and safeguarding the organization, collaborating with key stakeholders, and leading system-level taskforces to develop and align system-level clinical risk management initiatives across the Hospital transferring knowledge through participation in local, regional and international clinical risk management events and keeping up to date with the latest literature and research in Clinical Risk Management.
Job Responsibilities 1
Developing and implementing a comprehensive Clinical Risk Management Program:
Develops an integrated Clinical Risk Management Framework in accordance with the MMC Hospital’s mission and strategic goals, MoPH Standards and regulations and accreditation standards, to identify, assess and mitigate risk and improve quality and patient safety.
Supports the Department Director in the implementation of Clinical Risk Management Framework and develops plans to effectively measure, monitor and improve outcomes in key areas such as incident reporting and management, management of sentinel events, clinical complaints, case reviews, morbidity and mortality review, safety alerts etc.
Recommends implementation of new initiatives to manage risks and promote patient safety in line with international best practice.
Leads system-level taskforces to develop and align system-level clinical risk management initiatives.
Establishes key performance indicators to monitor compliance with clinical risk program across the group.
Researches trends and new approaches for clinical risk management and monitors Hospital’s performance against international benchmarks.
Job Responsibilities 2
Identifying and managing clinical risks
Ensures clinical risk data (from incident reports, sentinel events, claims, complaints, performance indicators etc.) is monitored.
Ensures statistical reports and data (from clinical risk key performance indicators, incident reports, sentinel events, claims, complaints) are generated regularly to monitor compliance with clinical risk program, and to ensure:
Patterns/trends are detected.
System errors and process deficiencies are identified.
Recommendations and performance improvement initiatives are put forward to prevent future recurrence.
Improvement actions plans are implemented and monitored.
Benchmark against global best practice is performed.
Concerns are escalated to the leadership.
Works with subject-matter experts to implement system-wide risk reduction strategies and put forth recommendations to improve performance and patient safety.
Recommends/leads clinical risk related audits to identify and address clinical risks and to monitor compliance with relevant policies/standards.
Recommends/leads performance improvement projects/initiatives based on clinical risk data.

Job Experience
Minimum 10 years of experience in Healthcare Risk Management (required).
Experience with auditing and reporting procedures.
5 years of managerial experience.
Minimum 3 years of experience in GCC (preferred).
