Job Summary

    The Commis I – Sommelier or wine professional is responsible in all aspects of upscale and fine dining restaurant wine services. Sommeliers are responsible for every aspect of the wine service, starting with the creation of the restaurant wine list, recommending on wine pairings with the meals as well as give customers expert advice on wine knowledge to increase the satisfaction of wine patrons.

Job Responsibilities 1

    • Assists in curating and updating wine lists per client requirements and customer demands.

    • Recommends food and wine pairings to clients. Showcases and informs clients about the different wine varieties. Manages the wine inventory and placing orders accordingly.

    • Contacts and negotiates best prices with vendors and wine makers, in line with the budgets.

    • Organizes and manages wine tasting events Reviews and ensures that the wine cellar is stocked at all times and that proper storage is maintained at all times.

    • Ensures compliance to food and health safety measures and regulations.

Job Knowledge & Skills

    • Extensive understanding of wine storage, pairing, creating, selecting proper glassware to be used and providing recommendations accordingly.

    • Well-groomed and highly presentable with excellent communication skills.

    • Flexibility to working days (including holidays) shifting hours and possibly restaurant locations.

Job Experience

    • Minimum 5 years of total experience.

    • Minimum 3 years of experience in Specialty/industry relevant (required).

    • Minimum 2 years in GCC (preferred).
