Job Summary
The Commodity Trading Operator supports the execution and administration of physical and financial commodity trades by managing the post-deal operational process. The role ensures accurate trade capture, documentation, logistics coordination, and timely settlement while maintaining compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements. The position acts as a key link between Traders, Logistics, Finance, and external counterparties to ensure smooth trade execution and risk mitigation.
Job Responsibilities 1
1. Trade Execution Support
- Capture and validate trade details in the trading system (ETRM or equivalent).
- Prepare and issue trade confirmations in line with agreed contractual terms.
- Monitor trade status from execution through settlement.
- Ensure timely processing of amendments and contract updates.
2. Contract Administration & Documentation
- Manage contract documentation including invoices, bills of lading, inspection certificates, and shipping documents.
- Coordinate document exchange with counterparties, banks, and inspection agencies.
- Maintain accurate trade records and filing systems.
3. Logistics Coordination
- Liaise with shipping agents, freight forwarders, warehouses, and inspection companies to ensure smooth cargo movement.
- Track shipments and monitor delivery schedules.
- Coordinate storage and inventory movements where applicable.
- Support resolution of operational issues related to delivery or documentation.
4. Settlement & Financial Coordination
- Support invoicing and settlement processes.
- Monitor payment timelines and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Coordinate with Finance on reconciliations and cash flow tracking.
- Assist in managing trade finance instruments such as Letters of Credit (LCs).
5. Risk & Compliance Monitoring
- Ensure trades are executed in line with internal policies and compliance standards.
- Escalate discrepancies, documentation gaps, or operational risks.
- Support audit requirements and internal control procedures.
6. Systems & Reporting
- Maintain accurate data entry in trading and reporting systems.
- Generate operational reports on trade status, shipments, and settlements.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains.

Job Knowledge & Skills
Understanding commodity trade lifecycle processes.
Basic knowledge of international shipping and Incoterms.
Familiarity with trade finance instruments (LCs, guarantees).
Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple transactions in a fast-paced environment.
Strong coordination and communication skills.
Problem-solving capability and risk awareness.
ERP knowledge, preferably SAP functional skills, are a requirement to be successful in this role (this point to be available for all roles that have SAP access)
Job Experience
5-7years of experience in commodity trading operations, logistics, or trade finance.
Exposure to physical commodity trading (energy, metals, bulk materials, oil & gas, or construction materials) is preferred.
Experience working with ETRM systems or ERP platforms is an advantage.
