Job Summary

    The Custom Clearance Manager supports the organization in establishing the operational standards to deliver on time performance at an optimized cost and zero tolerance in respect to timely clearance and processing of all related documents.

Job Responsibilities 1

    Develop and implement customs procedures / work instructions (standardize).

    Translate business needs and priorities into actionable custom strategies.

    Ensure to complete all regulatory reporting to government agencies as required.

    Develop and implement most effective procedures and routes for shipments.

    Communicate with shipping lines, dispatchers, warehouses and clients regarding custom regulations and other relevant government requirements/regulations.

    Negotiate prices, terms of sale an service agreements.

    Consult with government agencies on any issues arising.

    Provide support to Custom Clearance Team in problem resolutions ( i.e. helping to analyze and providing suggestions on resolving customs clearance issues and complains).

    Ensure customers receives their products/materials in a timely manner and good condition.

    Collaborate with other departments to integrate customs with business systems or processes, such as customer sales, order management, accounting, or shipping.

    Ensure that all functions under supervision operate in accordance with health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors.

Job Knowledge & Skills

In-depth knowledge of customs regulations, import/export laws, and clearance procedures to ensure compliance and facilitate smooth transactions.

Strong leadership and managerial skills to oversee customs clearance operations, coordinate with customs officials, and manage a team of clearance agents.

Excellent communication and negotiation abilities to liaise with customs authorities, clients, and shipping agents to resolve issues and expedite clearance processes.

Attention to detail and accuracy to review and verify customs documentation, tariffs, and duties for accuracy and completeness.

Problem-solving skills to address customs-related challenges, mitigate risks, and optimize clearance processes for efficient import/export operations.

ERP knowledge preferably SAP functional skills are a requirement to be successful in this role.

Job Experience

Minimum 8 year(s) working experience, 5 year(s) relevant working experience, 2 year (s) GCC is a plus

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain/Logistics related course or Business Administration
