Drilling Supervisor
Job Summary
The Drilling Supervisor is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of all drilling, completion, and workover operations at the rig site. The role ensures full compliance with operational programs, safety standards, and company policies while supervising drilling crews and service providers.
The Drilling Supervisor acts as the company’s on-site representative, coordinating between field teams, engineering, and logistics to achieve daily drilling objectives safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Job Responsibilities 1
Operational Supervision: Direct and monitor daily drilling, completion, and workover activities to ensure full adherence to approved drilling programs and safety standards.
Safety Leadership: Enforce HSE policies and conduct regular safety meetings, audits, and risk assessments to maintain zero-incident operations.
Drilling Program Execution: Ensure that all drilling parameters (mud weight, bit type, penetration rate, casing setting depth, etc.) are followed and deviations are reported.
Coordination with Engineering: Provide real-time feedback to drilling engineers for program optimization and troubleshooting.
Contractor & Crew Management: Supervise drilling crews, contractors, and service companies, ensuring efficient coordination and performance.
Equipment & Material Control: Verify that all required materials, consumables, and tools are available on-site and properly maintained.
Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate daily drilling reports, safety logs, and cost records for operational review and analysis.
Incident Response: Lead the initial response to any drilling incidents or well control situations, ensuring immediate containment and proper reporting.
Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure that all operations comply with local regulations, client standards, and company drilling policies.
Continuous Improvement: Identify lessons learned and recommend process, technology, or procedural improvements to enhance drilling performance.

Job Knowledge & Skills
In-depth knowledge of drilling operations, equipment, and well control principles.
Familiarity with API, ISO, and IADC standards for drilling and rig operations.
Strong understanding of HSE practices, rig safety systems, and emergency procedures.
Ability to interpret drilling programs, mud logs, and well schematics.
Proficient in rig operations reporting systems (e.g., WellView, OpenWells).
Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills under field conditions.
Job Experience
Minimum 3 years working experience, 2 years relevant working experience, 1 year GCC experience is a plus
