Job Summary

The Junior Architect – Marble & Stone Works is responsible for preparing accurate shop drawings, production drawings, and as-built drawings for marble and stone works. The role requires strong architectural drafting skills, attention to detail, and an understanding of marble fabrication, slab optimization, site measurements, installation requirements, and factory production processes.

The position will work closely with the site, project, design, and factory teams to ensure drawings accurately reflect the approved scope, BOQ, IFC drawings, actual site conditions, available slab sizes, and fabrication requirements. The role requires a practical, site-verified approach rather than simply converting IFC drawings into shop drawings.

Job Responsibilities 1

1. Shop Drawings

  • Review the project scope of work and compare it against the BOQ and IFC drawings.
  • Identify discrepancies, missing information, and scope requirements and raise RFIs when clarification is required.
  • Prepare detailed shop drawings for marble and stone works based on project requirements, specifications, BOQ, and verified site conditions.
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of shop drawings in accordance with the approved submittal log and project requirements.
  • Ensure all drawings comply with project specifications and approved materials.
  • Prepare marble layouts considering available slab sizes, required divisions, piece dimensions, and minimum material wastage.
  • Ensure drawings are practical and suitable for actual fabrication and installation.
  • Coordinate with the site team to verify dimensions and actual site conditions before finalizing drawings.
  • Prepare detailed Photoshop layouts when required for slab sizing and slab cutting layouts.
  • Coordinate with the factory to ensure slab cutting layouts are suitable for production.

2. Production Drawings

  • Prepare production drawings strictly based on the approved BOQ and actual site measurements.
  • Adapt production drawings according to factory requirements, recognizing that production drawings may differ from shop drawings.
  • Prepare elevations in a clockwise sequence to maintain slab continuity.
  • Clearly identify fabrication details for each individual marble or stone piece.
  • Prepare slab arrangement sheets for book-matched marble and stone works.
  • Number each piece clearly to support accurate cutting, fabrication, and installation.
  • Optimize slab utilization while maintaining the approved design intent and minimizing material wastage.
  • Identify any additional scope or discrepancies and report them to the site team for formal site instruction and approval.
  • Coordinate with the factory to ensure drawings are accurate and production-ready.

3. As-Built Drawings

  • Update drawings based on final site conditions and actual executed works.
  • Coordinate with the site team and relevant subcontractors to obtain the required information.
  • Incorporate approved changes, modifications, and site variations into the final drawings.
  • Prepare and submit accurate as-built drawings for approval.
  • Ensure final drawings support smooth project completion and handover.

4. Site & Project Coordination

  • Prepare job orders based on actual site conditions and approved project requirements.
  • Coordinate with the site team to determine starting points, dimensions, installation sequences, and other requirements.
  • Conduct site verification to ensure drawings accurately reflect actual conditions.
  • Identify and resolve drawing and site discrepancies through direct coordination with the site team.
  • Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, factory teams, subcontractors, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records of drawing revisions, comments, and approvals.
  • Ensure drawings are completed and issued within agreed project timelines.
