Environmental Compliance Manager
Job Summary
The Environmental Compliance Manager with a focus on ESIA (Environmental and Social Impact Assessment) is responsible for leading and managing compliance activities, conducting ESIA studies, and working closely with environmental consultants to ensure regulatory and best practice standards are achieved throughout the project lifecycle. He is responsible for ensuring that company operations, projects, and facilities comply with all conditions stipulated in ESIAs, associated Environmental Management Programs, and all relevant local, national, and international environmental legislation. To ensure the company’s operations within oil and gas processing and pipeline activities, Chemical processing complies with ESIA requirements. The role involves monitoring, auditing, reporting, and facilitating environmental compliance and sustainable operational practices throughout the project lifecycle. This role involves continuous monitoring, auditing, reporting, and liaison with regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders to mitigate environmental risk and uphold the company's environmental commitments.
Job Responsibilities 1
Plan, execute, and coordinate all stages of ESIA studies, including baseline environmental surveys, stakeholder engagement, impact analysis, reporting, and presenting findings to management and external stakeholders
Ensure all ESIA activities comply with national and international standards, as well as project-specific requirements.
Liaise with environmental consultants and regulatory agencies to gather expertise, submit documentation, and address potential compliance gaps
Develop, implement, and monitor environmental compliance programs and policies aligned with ESIA findings.
Collaborate with environmental consultants throughout ESIA design, execution, and review phases to produce high-quality assessment documentation and practical mitigation plans.
Facilitate workshops, briefings, and public consultations for ESIA process transparency and consensus.
Conduct regular and systematic inspections and audits of operational sites and project activities to verify compliance with ESIA and Environmental Management Programs conditions, permit requirements, and company standards.
Monitor the effectiveness of implemented environmental mitigation measures (e.g., dust suppression, water management, waste control, emissions monitoring).
Track and ensure compliance with all requirements set by environmental authorizations, licenses, and permits (e.g., air emissions, water use, waste management).
Prepare and submit accurate, timely and mandatory environmental compliance reports to internal management and external regulatory authorities
Maintain meticulous records of compliance audits, monitoring data, inspection reports, and corrective actions taken
Job Responsibilities 2
Contribute to the development and updating of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) including procedures, plans and manuals.
Serve as a key point of contact for environmental regulators, facilitating site visits, responding to queries, and submitting required documentation.
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure environmental requirements are understood and integrated into planning and execution.
Support community engagement activities related to environmental performance, as outlined in the ESIA's Stakeholder Engagement Plan.
Investigate environmental incidents, spills, or non-compliances to determine root cause.
Develop and track corrective and preventive action plans (CAPAs) to closure.
Implement and monitor emergency response procedures for environmental incidents.
Identify potential environmental risks and non-compliances and recommend practical solutions to mitigate them.
Participate in ESIA Studies for new projects or modifications to existing operations.
Review and advise on the environmental implications of contractor activities and operational changes.

Job Knowledge & Skills
Professional registration or certification (e.g., Certified Environmental Auditor).
Experience working with or for a regulatory authority, Environmental consulting agency and companies
Knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental management systems
The ability to craft clear, credible, and influential reports and presentations and stakeholder engagement skills
Demonstrated success in building relationships and influencing stakeholders at all levels of an organization without direct authority.
The ability to interpret Environmental compliance data and translate it into actionable insights. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities
Job Experience
Minimum 8 years working experience, 5 years in a relevant supervisory position, 2 years GCC experience is a plus
