Job Summary

The Estimator works closely with Senior Estimator and Project Managers to determine the costs associated with completing the scope of work in a tender. This position is also responsible for completing quantity take-offs, preparing cost estimates, organizing bid bonds, communicating with sub trades to determine the financial needs of completing a project.  Estimates and provides costs plans to support financial proposals. Responsibilities include compiling and reviewing tender documents, visiting sites, liaising with clients, and calculating costs for tender/s.

Job Responsibilities 1

Ensures compliance to the IMS Procedures.

Assesses the type of tender, client and closing date of tender to determine prioritization of all tenders.

Ensures ownership of bid submissions and issue handover documents following contract award.

Develops a coherent and consistent tender submission with the use of key estimating assumptions.

Prepares sound, consistent data for profitable tendering (estimate of man hours, equipment, subcontractors and material costs).

Prepares data required for reviews and presentation to client.

Handles inquiries and provides information related to tendering and estimating.

Job Responsibilities 2

Maintains contact with suppliers and sub-contractors to obtain pricing and products for tender submission as well as to keep up to date with new products.

Analyzes drawing, specifications and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.

Assists in the process of quantity take-offs, both manually and digitally, from tender documents and drawings.

Prepares and sends out enquiries to suppliers / sub-contractors selected from the clients preferred list and organization approved list.

Coordinates with the client on all changes in scope, questions or clarifications regarding the work, during the bidding process.

Conducts site inspection for tender understanding, analysis of conditions and assessment of risk and identification of activities that may or may not be shown in tender documents.

Job Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge in resources planning, detailed estimate rate calculations etc.“Experience” in Cost estimating packages such as CCS (Candy) will be a distinct advantage.Extensive Knowledge in MS word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, QS related Software & Web search/Internet.Experience on ERP system is preferred.Knowledge of local material rate, labor gang productivities and Subcontractors.Estimating and Project Management Skills.Solid understanding of policies and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics.

• ERP knowledge preferably SAP functional skills are a requirement to be successful in this role.
