Job Summary
The Firestop Technical Engineer is responsible for activities that take place on the worksite and ensures that firestop operations are carried out productively to ensure profitability and sustainable growth. The role is responsible for supervising the contractors and staff while maintaining a safe work environment. This position recommends alternative methods to ensure performance of the firestop system is not compromised and complies with the project requirements.
Job Responsibilities 1
Design firestop systems and assemblies based on building codes, standards, and project requirements to prevent the spread of fire and smoke through penetrations and joints in building structures.
Ensure compliance with applicable fire safety codes, regulations, and industry standards, such as NFPA, ASTM, and UL, in the design and installation of firestop systems.
Provide technical consultation and support to architects, engineers, contractors, and building owners regarding firestop requirements, product selection, installation methods, and code interpretations.
Review construction plans, specifications, and shop drawings to verify compliance with firestop requirements and identify any discrepancies or issues that need to be addressed.
Select appropriate firestop materials, sealants, wraps, and devices based on fire rating requirements, substrate types, environmental conditions, and compatibility with other building components.
Supervise and inspect the installation of firestop systems by contractors to ensure proper techniques, procedures, and materials are used according to approved designs and specifications.
Conduct quality assurance inspections and tests on installed firestop systems to verify compliance with design intent, performance standards, and manufacturer recommendations.
Maintain accurate records of firestop installations, including as-built drawings, product certifications, test reports, and inspection logs, for documentation and compliance purposes.
Provide training and education to contractors, building maintenance staff, and other stakeholders on firestop principles, installation best practices, and maintenance requirements.
Coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, inspectors, and regulatory authorities to facilitate the successful implementation of firestop systems throughout the construction process, from design to occupancy.
Support the implementation of HSE initiatives, participate in safety awareness activities, and contribute to incident reporting and resolution in alignment with company and IMS policies

Job Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of familiarity with Company policies and legal guidelines of the field
Knowledge of IFC and building codes
In-depth knowledge of Fire System and Standards
Knowledge of proper safety procedures and recognition of hazard
Knowledge of understanding how construction equipment works for inspection, operation and maintenance of
this equipment
Thorough understanding of NFPA 80, NFPA 105 and the IBC standards
ERP knowledge preferably SAP functional skills are a requirement to be successful in this role.
Job Experience
Minimum 5 year(s) working experience, 3 year(s) relevant working experience, 2 year (s) GCC is a plus
