Job Summary
The Ground Handling Turnaround Coordinator oversees and coordinates all aircraft ground handling activities during arrival and departure, ensuring timely, safe, and efficient completion of services in coordination with other ground handling departments. The role is directly responsible for assigning and supervising drivers, workers, and cleaners, and ensuring all required resources and equipment are deployed as per operational standards. Acting as the central point of coordination on the ramp, the Turnaround Coordinator ensures that every task — from unloading and cleaning to refuelling and pushback — is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with IATA, ICAO, and airport authority regulations.
Job Responsibilities 1
Coordinate all aircraft turnaround activities from arrival to departure, ensuring on-time and safe operations
Assign and supervise drivers, workers, and cleaners, ensuring proper deployment of manpower and GSE for each flight.
Confirm that all ground handling equipment (belt loaders, dollies, stairs, GPUs, etc.) is positioned, functional, and used correctly.
Ensure baggage unloading, loading, cleaning, catering, and refuelling tasks are executed according to the turnaround plan.
Communicate continuously with OCC, ramp control, passenger services and cargo departments and airline representatives on flight status, service completion, and irregularities.
Monitor turnaround time milestones, reporting any delays or incidents to the Shift Supervisor or OCC.
Ensure compliance with airside safety, PPE, and FOD prevention procedures.
Verify aircraft stand readiness before arrival and perform final checks before departure clearance.
Record service start/finish times and resource usage for each flight to support performance reporting.
Identify operational issues (equipment shortage, manpower gaps, safety risks) and escalate promptly for resolution.
Provide on-the-job guidance to ramp crews to maintain efficiency, teamwork, and safety discipline.
Participate in daily briefings, safety walks, and debriefs to improve turnaround performance and service quality.

Job Knowledge & Skills
Strong understanding of ground handling and ramp operations
Knowledge of IATA AHM / IGOM, airport safety, and airside operating standards.
Excellent coordination and multitasking skills under time pressure.
Ability to lead and allocate teams effectively (drivers, workers, cleaners).
ERP knowledge, preferably SAP functional skills, are a requirement to be successful in this role (this point to be available for all roles that have SAP access)
Job Experience
Minimum 3-4 years of experience in ramp or ground handling operations, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or coordination role.
Airside Safety or IATA AHM/IGOM certification preferred.
