Job Summary
The Inpatient Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of inpatient services, ensuring high standards of patient care, efficient resource utilization, and compliance with healthcare regulations. This position involves overseeing bed capacity, demand forecasting, and key performance indicators (KPIs) related to patient admissions and stay. This role also involves liaising with nursing staff, coordinating with other departments, implementing quality control processes, and ensuring that patient care is delivered safely and effectively in alignment with the hospital's mission and objectives.
Job Responsibilities 1
Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of current and past capacities for medical and surge beds.
Oversee the daily operations of inpatient wards and units, ensuring smooth functioning.
Ensure that staffing levels are adequate to meet patient needs while maintaining cost efficiency.
Gather and analyze data on average, total, and surge demand for both emergency and elective admissions.
Identify trends and patterns in admission rates and use this information to improve capacity planning and resource allocation.
Coordinate with other healthcare professionals and departments to facilitate the delivery of multidisciplinary care.
Develop and monitor patient care protocols and clinical pathways to improve outcomes.
Track KPIs, including occupancy rates, admission time, length of stay, and discharge time.
Implement strategies to enhance KPIs and optimize, distribute and smoothen patient flow.

Conduct regular staff meetings and provide continuous professional development opportunities.
Promote a positive and collaborative team culture.
Manage, lead, and develop inpatient nursing staff, including recruitment, training, performance management, and retention.
Conduct regular audits of clinical documentation, infection control practices, and other care protocols.
Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies and accreditation standards (e.g., JCI, NHS standards).
Identify areas for improvement in patient care and develop strategies to address them.
Manage the department's budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources without compromising care quality.
Oversee the procurement and management of equipment, supplies, and medications in inpatient units.
Communicate updates and changes in hospital policies or procedures to the inpatient staff.

Job Experience
Minimum of 10 years of clinical experience, including 5 years in a leadership.
Minimum 3 year in GCC (preferred).
Previous experience in inpatient care management is preferred.
