Job Summary

    The Laboratory Technician is responsible in a wide range of activities including aspects of testing, design and quality control of construction materials. The role does the necessary advising to clients and concerned Engineers on construction materials and their application, both in meetings and on construction sites. Other responsibilities include testing of materials such as but not limited to Asphalt, Concrete and Soil, to ensures the quality of raw materials.

Job Responsibilities 1

    Conduct tests and analyses on construction materials, such as concrete, asphalt, soil, and aggregates, to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.

    Collect samples of construction materials from job sites and performing various laboratory tests, including compressive strength tests, sieve analyses, and moisture content tests.

    Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, ensuring proper calibration, cleanliness, and functionality to obtain accurate test results.

    Record and document test data, observations, and results in accordance with established procedures, maintaining accurate records for quality control and compliance purposes.

    Assist engineers and project managers in interpreting test results, identifying issues or discrepancies, and recommending corrective actions or adjustments to construction procedures.

    Communicate effectively with project teams, contractors, and clients to provide test results, address inquiries, and coordinate sample collection and testing schedules.

    Adhere to safety protocols and procedures while handling hazardous materials and operating laboratory equipment to prevent accidents, injuries, and environmental hazards.

    Participate in quality assurance and quality control initiatives, including conducting internal audits, reviewing procedures, and recommending improvements to enhance laboratory operations.

    Assist in the development and implementation of new test methods, procedures, and protocols to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reliability of laboratory testing processes.

    Collaborate with external testing laboratories and agencies as needed to supplement in-house testing capabilities or obtain specialized testing services.

Job Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.

Understanding test procedures and processes.

Knowledge of laboratory tests and analysis. Knowledge of laboratory tools and equipment.

Comfortable handling potentially dangerous substances (flammable liquids, biohazards, etc.).

In-depth knowledge of QHSE management systems, preventative measures, and laboratory best practices. Superb

dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

ERP knowledge preferably SAP functional skills are a requirement to be successful in this role.

Job Experience

Minimum 5 year(s) working experience, 3 year(s) relevant working experience, 2 year (s) GCC is a plus

Education
