Job Summary
The Lead Piping Engineer serves to be the focal point for all engineering design and drafting activities within their assigned discipline area. Also provides an engineering interface for all engineering management and interdisciplinary coordination.
Discipline Lead Engineer supervises and coordinates the activities of an execution technology or work group (i.e. Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Safety, Civil, Structural, etc.) They manage their specific execution technology project needs including staffing, budgets, risk assessment, progress measurement, trending, schedules, technical execution, quality, safety, constructability and preparation of Engineering and Design Review Plans.
Coordinates directly with the other discipline lead engineers and, where necessary, the Project Administration, Project Construction Manager, Project Controls Manager, Project HSE Manager, Project Information Manager, Project Procurement/Materials Manager, and Project Quality Manager to ensure clearly defined interface responsibilities for assigned discipline activities.
Job Responsibilities 1
Responsible for the technical quality and timely delivery of all engineering data and documentation within his/her discipline area. Responsible for reviewing designs to ensure work content meets the requirements set out in the Contract and Statement of Requirements and complies with the applicable regulations and codes.
Responsible for directing discipline design and drafting personnel in the performance of their assigned functions. Responsible for the organization of the discipline staff to effectively execute quality and timely design packages to meet the project requirements.
Responsible to define, plan, and develop the scope, procedures, budget, personnel requirements, and detailed schedules for the discipline. Responsible to organize discipline staff to meet the needs of each project area, including onshore, offshore, process, and drilling platforms elements.
Responsible to develop and update component discipline engineering manpower forecasts. Review manhour expenditures and their associated budgets. Take corrective actions within the discipline and/or make recommendations for corrective action to the Project Engineer(s) for budget deficiencies. Responsible to monitor work progress to established budgets for each discipline work area.
Responsible for preparing Project Variance Notices for project budget control. Responsible to provide engineering management projections as to overruns or underruns based upon discipline productivity and work scope variations.
Responsible for developing reports on discipline progress and monitoring the design and drafting effort. Responsible to provide corrective actions to work processes or personnel where work progress does not meet budget expectations.Responsible to coordinate the purchase specification development for equipment and materials. Responsible to review and/or approve technical recommendations for procurement of project materials related to the specific discipline area of the project.

Responsible for leading design studies of special technical issues and providing recommendations to project management for approval. Provide technical input and support, as required, to the estimating group in the preparation of the project estimate.
Responsible to coordinate with the discipline department manager to initiate the Engineering Assurance Audit at certain intervals as defined by the project schedule. Responsible to organize discipline staff to develop technical documents to support clear definition of procurement and construction activities in compliance with the Contract, Statement of Requirements, and the project schedule.
Responsible to set policy, provide direction and priority for the execution of the discipline work and monitoring the performance of the personnel performing the work. Responsible to ensure that qualified engineering personnel are assigned to all discipline positions. Responsible to review discipline personnel performance in meeting assigned work. Responsible to provide feedback to discipline management on the performance of discipline personnel. Responsible to review time charges and overtime requirements as authorized by project management for engineering design personnel. Responsible for the timely release of engineering staff as work content is completed. Responsible to practice and reinforce alliance principles and behavior to the engineering disciplines. Responsible to encourage the development of ideas that improve the alliance risk/reward position. Responsible for communicating and reinforcing the project principles and key objectives to the engineering disciplines.

Job Knowledge & Skills
Deep knowledge of Oil & Gas facility design, codes, and specifications
Strong experience in Pre-FEED, FEED and Details Design
Strong command of piping stress analysis, layout optimization, and procurement support
Excellent communication, team coordination, and decision-making capabilities
Proficiency in PDMS/E3D, Caesar II, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and material specification systems
ERP knowledge preferably SAP functional skills are a requirement to be successful in this role.
Job Experience
Minimum 8 years working experience, 5 years in a relevant supervisory position, 2 years GCC experience is a plus
