Job Summary

The Lead Power Systems Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership, design oversight, and engineering assurance for power systems across major projects. The role ensures the reliability, stability, and efficiency of electrical power infrastructure, including generation, transmission, and distribution systems. It serves as the primary technical authority, driving system integration, compliance, and performance optimization across all phases of the project lifecycle.

Job Responsibilities 1

Power Systems Design and Technical Leadership

Lead the design, review, and validation of electrical power systems including generation, transmission, distribution networks, and substations. Ensure designs meet technical specifications, international standards, and project requirements while optimizing performance, reliability, and safety.

Load Flow, Stability, and System Studies

Oversee power system studies including load flow analysis, short circuit analysis, transient stability, and protection coordination. Ensure all studies are properly validated and integrated into system design to guarantee operational reliability and efficiency.

Engineering Coordination and System Integration

Coordinate electrical systems with mechanical, control, and civil disciplines to ensure seamless integration across project components. Manage complex interfaces between systems and ensure alignment with overall project design requirements.

 

Project Execution and Technical Oversight

Provide technical direction during construction and installation phases, ensuring that electrical systems are implemented according to design and engineering standards. Support site teams in resolving technical challenges and ensuring timely project delivery.

 

Grid Compliance and Regulatory Standards

Ensure all power systems comply with local grid codes, international standards (IEC, IEEE), and regulatory requirements. Liaise with utility authorities to ensure approvals, testing, and integration requirements are fully met.

 

Testing, Commissioning, and System Validation

Lead commissioning activities, testing procedures, and system energization to ensure systems operate safely and efficiently. Validate system performance against design parameters and operational requirements.

 

Protection Systems and Reliability Engineering

Oversee protection schemes including relay coordination, fault analysis, and system redundancy planning. Ensure the reliability and continuity of power supply through robust engineering practices.

 

Vendor Management and Technical Evaluation

Review and approve technical submittals, equipment specifications, and vendor proposals. Ensure equipment selection aligns with technical, operational, and commercial requirements.

 

Risk Management and Technical Problem Solving

Identify risks associated with power system design and implementation, and develop mitigation strategies. Resolve complex electrical issues and provide engineering solutions to minimize impact on project timelines and performance.

Power Systems Engineering Expertise

Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of electrical power systems including generation, transmission, distribution, and substation design. Applies advanced engineering principles to ensure system reliability, stability, and efficiency in complex project environments.

Electrical Standards and Regulatory Compliance

Strong understanding of international standards such as IEC, IEEE, and local grid codes. Ensures all designs and implementations comply with regulatory frameworks and industry best practices.

System Analysis and Problem-Solving Skills

Highly capable in analyzing electrical system behavior, identifying technical issues, and developing effective engineering solutions. Applies structured methodologies when addressing system faults, inefficiencies, or design challenges.

Integration and Multidisciplinary Coordination

Ability to coordinate power systems with other engineering disciplines ensuring seamless integration and system compatibility. Supports holistic project delivery through strong cross-functional collaboration.

Communication and Stakeholder Management

Strong communication skills to present complex technical concepts clearly to stakeholders including clients, consultants, and project teams. Ensures alignment, clarity, and effective decision-making across all levels.

Job Experience

Minimum 10–15 years of experience in power systems engineering within EPC, utilities, or large-scale infrastructure projects

Proven experience in power system design, analysis, and commissioning

Demonstrated involvement in full project lifecycle including design, installation, testing, and operation

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or any related field
Master's degree in Engineering or any related field
