Lead Structural Engineer - EPC Digital
QA
Job Summary
The Lead Structural Engineer is responsible for leading the structural engineering scope of Digital EPC projects from concept and detailed design through procurement support, construction and final handover. The role ensures that buildings, equipment foundations, structural steel, reinforced concrete, raised-floor supports, equipment platforms, rooftop structures and associated systems are safe, compliant, constructible and aligned with the loading, resilience and operational requirements of mission-critical digital infrastructure.
The position provides discipline leadership for data centres, ICT facilities, telecommunications hubs, command-and-control environments, smart infrastructure and other technology-intensive developments. The Lead Structural Engineer coordinates engineers, designers, specialist consultants, vendors, construction teams and client representatives while managing interfaces with architecture, geotechnical, civil, mechanical cooling, electrical power, ICT and commissioning functions.
The role safeguards engineering quality through disciplined design governance, structural analysis, vibration and loading assessment, model coordination, constructability review and change control. It resolves complex engineering issues and ensures structural deliverables support equipment procurement, fabrication, installation sequencing, maintainability, expansion and operational handover.
Job Responsibilities 1
1. Structural Engineering Leadership
Lead planning, execution and technical assurance of the structural scope, establishing design priorities, deliverable schedules, resource requirements and quality expectations.
2. Structural Design & Technical Governance
Direct structural design criteria, calculations, specifications, drawings, models and reviews in compliance with project requirements, equipment loading data and applicable codes.
3. Mission-Critical Buildings & Equipment Support
Provide technical leadership for data halls, technical buildings, equipment foundations, structural frames, slabs, platforms, supports and rooftop equipment structures.
4. Loading, Vibration & Resilience Assessment
Coordinate static, dynamic, seismic, wind, vibration, impact and equipment loads and verify structural performance against serviceability, redundancy and operational requirements.
5. Geotechnical, Architectural & MEP Interfaces
Manage foundation criteria, penetrations, openings, builder-work, equipment access, raised-floor systems and interfaces with civil, architectural, mechanical, electrical and ICT disciplines.
6. Vendor, Fabrication & Procurement Engineering
Review vendor loads, anchor arrangements, support details, shop drawings, material submissions, fabrication documents and technical deviations.
7. Constructability & Site Engineering Support
Lead constructability reviews and resolve technical queries, field changes, nonconformities, repair proposals and installation issues while protecting design intent.
8. Engineering Quality, Safety & Compliance
Ensure calculations, drawings and specifications are checked, verified and approved under quality procedures, authority requirements, structural codes and contractual obligations.
9. Value Engineering, Modularity & Future Expansion
Drive standardization, modularization, material efficiency and design optimization while protecting safety, durability, maintainability and future capacity requirements.
10. Team Development & Technical Coordination
Guide structural engineers and designers, allocate work, review performance, share technical knowledge and maintain effective stakeholder communication.
