Job Summary

The MV Manager is accountable for the governance, operational integrity, and safety of all medium‑voltage electrical systems supplying airport facilities. The role ensures that MV infrastructure performs reliably under continuous load while meeting stringent aviation, utility, and electrical safety requirements. Acting as the technical and safety authority for MV systems, the role protects LV networks, power generation interfaces, and safety‑critical airport operations from electrical disruption or failure.

Job Responsibilities 1

Medium‑Voltage Asset Ownership

Own the performance, configuration, and compliance of MV substations, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, and feeders serving airport operations.

Electrical Safety & High‑Risk Operations Governance

Act as accountable authority for MV electrical safety, enforcing isolation rules, switching procedures, permit‑to‑work discipline, and regulatory compliance across all MV activities.

System Reliability & Failure Prevention Strategy

Define reliability strategies based on criticality, fault history, and load behaviour to prevent cascading electrical failures impacting airport operations.

Incident Response & System Recovery Leadership

Lead technical response to MV faults, protection trips, or abnormal events, ensuring safe isolation, investigation, and restoration under operational pressure.

Capacity Management & Network Stability

Control MV capacity, protection coordination, and system stability to support evolving airport demand and downstream LV loads.

Maintenance & Testing Governance

Define inspection, testing, and maintenance requirements aligned with utility standards and aviation operational risk.

Integration with Power Generation & LV Systems

Ensure seamless interface between MV networks, generation systems, and LV distribution to protect resilience and load continuity.

Performance Reporting & Asset Planning

Provide leadership with fault trends, protection performance data, and lifecycle renewal recommendations.

Medium‑Voltage Power Systems in Aviation Contexts
Authoritative understanding of MV infrastructure supporting safety‑critical airport loads.

Electrical Protection & System Stability
Capability to govern protection schemes, fault clearance, and coordination across networks.

MV Electrical Safety & Regulatory Compliance
Strong command of high‑risk electrical governance and statutory obligations.

Reliability & Incident Management
Ability to manage faults and prevent repeat events through systemic controls.

Technical Authority & Governance Leadership
Proven authority to enforce engineering standards and decisive technical judgment.

Job Experience

12–15+ years managing MV systems in airports, utilities, or critical infrastructure.Demonstrated accountability for electrical safety and system continuity.Experience leading specialist electrical teams and contractors.
