The role ensures that MV infrastructure performs reliably under continuous load while meeting stringent aviation, utility, and electrical safety requirements. Acting as the technical and safety authority for MV systems, the role protects LV networks, power generation interfaces, and safety‑critical airport operations from electrical disruption or failure.
Job Responsibilities 1
Medium‑Voltage Asset Ownership
Own the performance, configuration, and compliance of MV substations, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, and feeders serving airport operations.
Electrical Safety & High‑Risk Operations Governance
Act as accountable authority for MV electrical safety, enforcing isolation rules, switching procedures, permit‑to‑work discipline, and regulatory compliance across all MV activities.
System Reliability & Failure Prevention Strategy
Define reliability strategies based on criticality, fault history, and load behaviour to prevent cascading electrical failures impacting airport operations.
Incident Response & System Recovery Leadership
Lead technical response to MV faults, protection trips, or abnormal events, ensuring safe isolation, investigation, and restoration under operational pressure.
Capacity Management & Network Stability
Control MV capacity, protection coordination, and system stability to support evolving airport demand and downstream LV loads.
Maintenance & Testing Governance
Define inspection, testing, and maintenance requirements aligned with utility standards and aviation operational risk.
Integration with Power Generation & LV Systems
Ensure seamless interface between MV networks, generation systems, and LV distribution to protect resilience and load continuity.
Performance Reporting & Asset Planning
Provide leadership with fault trends, protection performance data, and lifecycle renewal recommendations.
