Job Summary

The Medical Physicist will calibrate Radiation Physics equipment calibration and commissioning, clinical support, maintenance in compliance with radiation safety and licensing issues. They will implement quality control procedures for imaging devices and therapeutic equipment and perform dose calculations and verifications and quality assurance testing for patient treatment plans. This role requires a strong commitment to quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with clinical staff to enhance patient care. The Physicist is also required to participate in the Radiation Safety Committee.

Job Responsibilities 1

Oversee the calibration, quality control, and maintenance of PET CT scanners, gamma cameras, and ancillary equipment.

Develop and implement quality assurance protocols to ensure optimal operation and image quality.

Perform routine clinical duties, acceptance testing, and commissioning of new equipment or procedures related to radiation therapy.

Collaborate with nuclear medicine technologists, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to support clinical operations.

Provide expert consultation on the appropriate use of radiopharmaceuticals and imaging protocols.

Work closely with the team and physicians in all aspects of quality assurance and patient treatment.

Be responsible for the development of treatment plans, data acquisition and storage for treatments, and calculation of dose distributions and machine settings for treatment delivery.

Job Responsibilities 2

Ensure compliance with radiation safety regulations and protocols, including monitoring exposure levels for staff and patients.

Conduct regular reviews and risk assessments of radiation safety practices within the department.

Act as the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) for Nuclear Medicine and PET. Be able to roll out training to staff so they can be certified as classified radiation workers.

Comply with Nuclear Regulatory Commission guidelines while providing education to patients and families as necessary.

Provide training and guidance for staff on physics principles, equipment operation, and safety protocols.

Contribute to educational programs for medical residents and technologists.

Ensure adherence to local and international regulations related to nuclear medicine practices and radiation safety.

Job Knowledge & Skills

Practical knowledge of MIM Image Fusion Software.  

Practical knowledge of RadCalc, Radiosurgery and IMRT (highly preferred). 

Practical knowledge of IGRT / VMAT. 

Practical knowledge of SBRT / SRS– robust SRS program. 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Job Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience (required). 

Practical knowledge of MIM Image Fusion Software.

Minimum 2 year in GCC (preferred).
