Job Summary

    The Pastry Commis Chef is responsible to support the pastry kitchen in preparing and executing high-quality pastry and dessert items. They assist in the creation of delicious and visually appealing pastries while adhering to recipes and maintaining kitchen cleanliness. Additionally, Pastry Commis Chefs contribute to the overall efficiency of the pastry department, ensuring timely production and delivery of pastry items.

Job Responsibilities 1

    Assist in preparing and baking a variety of pastry and dessert items, following recipes and instructions provided by senior pastry chefs.

    Help in decorating pastries, cakes, and desserts, ensuring they meet quality and presentation standards.

    Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pastry kitchen, including cleaning equipment, utensils, and work surfaces.

    Assist in monitoring inventory levels of pastry ingredients and supplies, notifying senior chefs of any shortages or replenishment needs.

    Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

    Collaborate with other kitchen staff members to coordinate pastry production and ensure timely delivery of orders.

    Assist in receiving and storing pastry ingredients, ensuring proper storage and rotation to maintain freshness.

    Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance pastry skills and knowledge.

    Adhere to kitchen policies, procedures, and guidelines to maintain consistency and quality in pastry production.

    Perform any other duties or tasks assigned by pastry chefs or kitchen management to support the overall operation of the pastry department.

Job Knowledge & Skills

Understanding of basic pastry techniques, such as dough preparation, baking, and decorating, to assist in the production of various pastry items.

Knowledge of food safety principles and sanitation practices to maintain a clean and hygienic pastry kitchen environment and ensure compliance with health regulations.

Strong attention to detail to follow recipes accurately, monitor baking times, and ensure the proper presentation of pastry items.

Ability to collaborate effectively with other kitchen staff members, including pastry chefs and line cooks, to coordinate pastry production and support the overall operation of the kitchen.

Skill in managing time efficiently to prioritize tasks, meet production schedules, and ensure timely delivery of pastry orders while maintaining quality standards.

Job Experience

Minimum 3 year(s) working experience, 2 year(s) relevant working experience, 2 year (s) GCC is a plus
