Job Summary
The Principal Procurement Engineer leads the procurement of materials and services essential to the successful execution of Oil & Gas projects. Key responsibilities include overseeing pre-award activities such as market analysis, supplier evaluation, and contract negotiation through to award. In addition, the Principal provides hands-on functional guidance and coaching to the procurement team, ensuring alignment with project goals and procurement best practices.
Job Responsibilities 1
Execute procurement strategies and provide functional support to Procurement Engineers to meet project objectives, cost targets, and quality requirements.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to understand project specifications and procurement needs.
Source and evaluate potential suppliers, conducting market research and supplier assessments to identify qualified suppliers.
Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing agreements with suppliers to achieve the best commercial outcome for the project. Provide negotiation guidance to Procurement Engineers as required.
Manage the procurement process from requisition to delivery, including issuing purchase orders, tracking shipments, and resolving delivery issues.
Manage the procure to pay process from PO award to final payment of the supplier.
Monitor supplier performance, report and escalate any supplier performance issues or non-conformances.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings in procurement operations. Assist in the implementation of process improvements.
Provide guidance and support to junior supply chain staff, mentoring them on procurement processes, supplier management, and negotiation tactics.
Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation, ensuring compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements as directed by the Supply Chain Manager.

Job Knowledge & Skills
Strong knowledge of procurement and expediting processes in the EPC Oil & Gas industry.
Experience managing major complex procurement packages
Strong communication skills, with the ability to manage relationships with internal teams and external suppliers.
In-depth understanding of procurement and expediting processes
ERP knowledge, preferably SAP functional skills are a requirement to be successful in this role.
Excellent analytical abilities to evaluate supplier proposals, conduct cost analysis, and identify opportunities for cost savings.
Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules with suppliers while maintaining quality standards.
Job Experience
· Minimum 5 years working experience, 3 years relevant working experience, 2 years GCC experience is a plus.
