Procurement Engineer

Job Summary

Responsibilities:

  1. Contributes in developing procurement management strategies and practices to effectively reap maximum value from Procurement.
  2. Ensures understanding of strategic business relationships to achieve business plan and strategy.
  3. Provides market insights to stakeholders and business units.
  4. Collaborates with the team in formulating the strategic plan that capture total procurement value to sustain a competitive edge.
  5. Contributes to the creation and implementation of best practice procurement vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance
  6. Engages and collaborates with both key internal and external stakeholders to develop strong relationships that will lead to improve service while reducing supply cost and ensure optimal performance.
  7. Supports the senior functional leaders to establish both short and long-term business objectives.
  8. Ensures utilizing expert industry knowledge and advanced business models to develop strategies and structure for business relationships.
  9. Ensures clear understanding of measurable goals that challenge Procurement to continuously improve and use financial and quantitative data to manage performance.
  10. Assists in the implementation of best practice purchasing policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance and deliver best value and business savings and financial targets.
  11. Maintains and updates information of suppliers, materials and services that meet business requirements.
  12. Upgrades Procurement talent in respective team by the attraction, development and retention of great resources.
  13. Provides regular feedback through coaching and mentoring the team  to build professional expertise  and motivated team responsible for interfacing with internal stakeholders and external third parties.
  14. Adheres in the department long-term cost reduction and value improvement plans for specific spend areas.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Ensures utilizing all economies scale and best practices to win local battles .
  • Communicates the supply strategy and its implications, to inform and align the respective stakeholders.
  • Interacts on an executive/managerial level within and outside the business to ensure cross alignment in the spirit of long term partnership.
  • Contributes in leading the delivery of the savings and operating cash flow programme in his/her Categories, Cluster and/or Business Unit

  6. Responsible to manage and optimize the financial and budgetary requirements as required.
  7. Identifies metrics, tools and processes to optimize sourcing, supplier activities and efficiencies.
  8. Evaluates the challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities
  9. Drives continuous improvement, work simplification and the elimination of non-value-added work.
  10. Drives operational excellence in strategic sourcing.

 

Job Knowledge & Skills

  • Proven track record in managing procurement teams with significant spend responsibility and managing multi-location teams. This includes experiences gained within relevant multi-product / multi-site and complex matrix organizations. Ideally, the person has spent time at corporate level but also in the field.
  • Profound knowledge of the requirements for best-in-class purchasing capabilities and a strong expertise and credibility in all areas of purchasing. This includes risk management, understanding of market dynamics and the concept of price discovery: an experienced negotiator who regularly spends time “out-in-the-market” dealing and collaborating with suppliers.
  • Good understanding of “best practices” in integrated supply chain management with experiences in other areas of the supply chain/operations a clear plus. This also includes having a good knowledge of state-of-the-art ERP systems.
