Job Summary

To ensure that the day-to-day activities of the Biomedical Engineering department are provided efficiently and effectively according to the approved policies and procedures and the quality standards. To design, develop and ensure product safety and reliability through the utilization of characterization testing process to improve quality of patient care. This will include problem solving, materials testing, data analysis, and maintenance of biomedical equipment by following applicable regulatory requirements and quality control standards.

Job Responsibilities 1

Monitors & Follows Biomedical Engineers’ comprehensive programs of inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair for mechanical, electrical, and patient care support equipment.

Maintains knowledge of current best practices for hospital engineering and equipment.

Ensures that safe work practices are implemented and adhered to by departmental staff and outside service agencies and contractors.

Takes diligent care for the smooth functioning of medical devices and manages the overall structuring of a hospital like various departmental planning, involving in designing the floor plan of hospital, procurement of higher end equipment followed by preventive maintenance of the same. 

Responsible for the purchase of equipment, installation, commissioning, training, creating the master asset list of the devices in the entire hospital, QA (Quality Assurance) for radiology devices and manages the rest of big modalities etc. Once the device is in use, it must undergo periodic action plans and management of maintenance contracts along with calibration. All these processes need to be stored and documented in the database for future reference.

Coordinates activities of Biomedical Equipment Management & Maintenance throughout the hospital, including asset inventory, maintenance, repair, calibration, safety testing, replacement, upgrading and hazard recall actions.

Coordinates between maintenance staff and clinical staff in a timely manner for the smooth functioning of the operation.

Job Responsibilities 2

Runs the installation work and checks on the device’s performance and operation.

Arranges and develops the necessary trainings of personnel across all locations to obtain the skill level to operate and maintain the medical devices or to remain updated on new device upgradations. All these training need to be signed, documented, and stored in the database.

Responsible for management of maintenance contracts, analysis of equipment failure, assessment of repair cost, scheduling of repair/PM visits, monitoring, and documentation.

Responsible for incoming Inspection of Equipment: This includes various audits like MoPH, MEE and other international accreditation like JCI. The reports and documents related to each device need to be submitted to the auditors.

Responsible of Equipment Risk Management: the devices will be provided with risk classes while testing, followed by a computerized medical management system to track the device inventory and maintenance history to reduce the preventive maintenance requirement and internal device surveillance along with changes in standards.

Responsible of documentation of all Condemnation-if not repaired or out of use: The devices which cannot be used or repaired should be labelled as condemned devices, such category devices need to be listed and documented.

Job Knowledge & Skills

• Comprehensive knowledge of accreditation process in an acute Healthcare Facility with particular emphasis on JCIStrong Knowledge of the Global Biomedical protocols. International codes & standard for medical facilities.Command over specification writing as per client vision and final review.Proficient in RDS and RLS.Classification of hospital medical equipment and its application.Coordination with other engineering discipline is desirable.Communication and teamworking skills.Complete documentation.Asset managementMedical equipment planning

• ERP knowledge preferably SAP functional skills are a requirement to be successful in this role.

Job Experience

Minimum 15 years of experience in Healthcare Industry (required)

Experience in hospital (Min 500 bed) setting (required)

Minimum 5 years in GCC (preferred)

Education
