Job Summary
The Senior Contracts Director leads and oversees all contractual activities across multiple projects within the Business Unit, providing high-level strategic advice and guidance on contract preparation, claim management, and dispute resolution. This position involves managing and monitoring the contract lifecycle, ensuring all obligations are met with the highest level of satisfaction from clients and stakeholders. The Senior Contracts Director will direct a team of contract managers, ensuring compliance with all contractual terms and overseeing the formulation and defense of claims, mitigating risks, and supporting successful project execution.
Job Responsibilities 1
Lead and oversee all contractual activities within the business unit, ensuring compliance with contract terms and alignment with business goals.
Supervise and mentor the Contracts Team, providing strategic direction on complex contractual issues and advising senior management.
Take ownership of preparing and resolving major contract claims, disputes, and conflicts, ensuring legal compliance and effective presentation.
Guide teams through dispute resolution processes, utilizing negotiation, arbitration, mediation, or legal action as necessary.
Serve as the primary liaison between senior executives, clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and legal teams on critical contractual matters.
Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring transparent communication and alignment with business objectives.
Ensure all projects comply with contractual obligations, local laws, and regulations, minimizing risks and preventing disputes.
Develop and implement a claims management schedule to monitor ongoing contracts and provide strategic guidance on preventing claims.
Lead the development and improvement of contract management processes and systems to increase operational efficiency and mitigate risks.
Provide expert-level advice on legal and regulatory matters, ensuring contracts and claims align with Qatar's legal framework and international standards.

Job Knowledge & Skills
Contract Claims and Dispute Resolution: Advanced expertise in managing complex contract claims and dispute resolution, with a strong focus on negotiation, arbitration, and mediation.
Legal Knowledge: In-depth understanding of contracting concepts, local law (specifically Qatar Civil Code), and international regulations. Experience with FIDIC and other bespoke contract forms.
Project and Contract Oversight: Proven track record of leading large-scale projects and managing multi-faceted contracts, ensuring that obligations are met and disputes are minimized.
Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage, mentor, and develop teams. Excellent communication skills for liaising with clients, legal teams, and senior executives.
ERP and SAP Systems: Proficient in using ERP systems, with a preference for SAP experience, to manage contracts and claims processes.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to evaluate claims, contract terms, and dispute resolution strategies. Ability to develop clear and persuasive arguments to support claims or defend against them.
Job Experience
Minimum 20 years working experience, 15 years in a relevant management/leadership position, 5 years GCC experience is a plus.
