Job Summary

The Dental Technician will be responsible for creating dental prosthetics that help restore a patient's smile. S/He will take impressions sent to her/him by the Dentist and turn them into a finished prosthetic that looks as good as the original and fits with minimal adjustment.

Job Responsibilities 1

Designs, creates, constructs, modifies, and fits removeable dental appliances for patients.

Works with dental materials such as porcelain, gold, plastics, and acrylics to create dentures, crowns, bridges, veneers, dentures, retainers, and other dental lab products.

Maintains all equipment, completes repair orders and keeps a log.

Keeps the laboratory neat and clean.

Cleans and sterilizes equipment used in the lab, including tools such as drills, files, saws, and grinders.

Prepares models of patients’ teeth for impressions by carving the models out of wax or plastic.

Uses computerized equipment to scan and digitize digital images of teeth for use in fabricating custom dental restorations.

Job Responsibilities 2

Uses computerized equipment to digitally design crowns and bridge work for naturel teeth and Implants.

Operates CAD/CAM software, 3D printing machines, and milling units to create crowns, surgical guides for implants, aligners, esthetic wax ups, amongst others.

Makes molds of patients’ teeth by pouring dental cement into casts created by a dentist or orthodontist.

Creates detailed models of patients’ teeth using a computerized scanning device called a laser scanner or digital scanner.

Dresses models’ teeth with putty or other materials.

Applies finishing touches to dental devices prior to final placement; polishing and finishing dental prostheses and devices prior to placement by dentists.

Job Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience as a Dental Technician (required).
