Job Summary

The Senior Geology Manager will support the identification, screening and evaluation of upstream oil and gas investment opportunities across the company’s New Ventures and Business Development portfolio.
The role provides subsurface expertise across exploration, appraisal, development and producing assets, supporting opportunity screening, technical due diligence and investment decision-making. The position works closely with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, commercial and finance teams to ensure subsurface risks, uncertainties and upside potential are clearly understood and appropriately reflected in investment evaluations.
The successful candidate will be capable of rapidly evaluating subsurface opportunities, integrating multidisciplinary datasets and communicating technical insights clearly in a commercial decision-making environment.

Job Responsibilities 1

Opportunity Screening & Technical Evaluation
•Evaluate upstream oil and gas opportunities including exploration acreage, appraisal assets, development projects and producing fields
•Conduct rapid technical screening of potential acquisitions, farm-in opportunities and licensing rounds
•Assess geological prospectivity, resource potential, play concepts and risk
•Support regional basin and play analysis to identify emerging exploration opportunities

Subsurface Integration
•Integrate geological, geophysical, reservoir and production data to assess asset potential
•Support multidisciplinary evaluation teams including reservoir engineering, geophysics and commercial teams
•Work closely with geophysicists and reservoir engineers to develop integrated subsurface models
•Identify key subsurface uncertainties and their impact on resource volumes, development strategy and project value
•Interpret well logs to evaluate reservoir quality, net-to-gross, porosity, permeability and fluid saturation
•Integrate core data, petrophysical analyses and well test information to assess reservoir properties
•Support determination of net pay, hydrocarbon contacts and reservoir continuity
•Ensure petrophysical interpretations are appropriately integrated into volumetric assessments and development evaluations

Technical Due Diligence
•Lead geological evaluation during technical due diligence for acquisitions, farm-ins and strategic investments.
•Participate in technical data room reviews and assess seismic interpretations, well data and subsurface models.
•Evaluate structural frameworks, reservoir and source rock presence/quality, petroleum systems and trap integrity
•Review resource estimates, volumetric calculations and development concepts
•Identify technical risks, data gaps and potential value opportunities

Resource Assessment & Risk Evaluation
•Perform volumetric estimates and risk assessments across exploration, appraisal and development assets
•Support uncertainty analysis and chance of success assessments
•Identify key exploration and development risks and potential upside opportunities

Development & Production
•Provide geological input into development planning, well placement and reservoir management considerations
•Evaluate production performance and reservoir behaviour in producing assets
•Support assessment of brownfield optimisation, infill drilling and near-field exploration potential

Well Planning
•Contribute to the design and planning of exploration, appraisal and development wells to test key geological and reservoir uncertainties
•Support well location selection and trajectory planning based on integrated subsurface interpretation
•Define well data acquisition programs including logging, coring, pressure measurements and formation testing
•Work closely with drilling and reservoir engineering teams to ensure well objectives support subsurface evaluation and development planning

Portfolio Support
•Provide subsurface input into portfolio screening and ranking of upstream opportunities
•Translate geological insights into clear assessments of resource potential, exploration risk and development implications
•Support preparation of technical materials for investment committees and senior leadership
•Contribute to strategic evaluation of basins, plays and regional exploration opportunities
