Job Summary
The Senior Ophthalmology Consultant will lead our ophthalmology department, providing expert medical care, consultation, and leadership in the diagnosis and treatment of eye conditions. Reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), this position offers an opportunity to contribute to clinical excellence, education, and research in ophthalmology.
Job Responsibilities 1
Provide specialized medical and surgical care for patients with a wide range of eye conditions and diseases, including cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and other ophthalmic disorders.
Perform advanced ophthalmic surgical procedures, such as cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, laser eye surgery, and retinal surgery.
Utilize diagnostic tools and imaging techniques to evaluate and monitor ocular health and disease progression. Lead and mentor a team of ophthalmologists, residents, fellows, nurses, and support staff within the ophthalmology department.
Provide guidance on clinical management, surgical techniques, and patient care protocols.
Foster a culture of clinical excellence, patient safety, and continuous professional development among staff.
Implement quality assurance programs and initiatives to enhance clinical outcomes, patient safety, and satisfaction in ophthalmology.
Ensure adherence to clinical guidelines, protocols, and regulatory standards.
Participate in case reviews, peer evaluations, and multidisciplinary conferences to promote best practices and quality improvement.
Engage in teaching, supervision, and mentorship of medical students, residents, fellows, and allied health professionals in ophthalmology.
Job Responsibilities 2
Contribute to clinical research studies, publications, and presentations at national and international conferences.
Stay abreast of advancements in ophthalmic technology, surgical techniques, and treatments, and contribute to the development of clinical pathways and guidelines.
Collaborate effectively with other specialty departments, such as neurology, endocrinology, and primary care, to provide integrated patient care.
Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing clear explanations of diagnoses, treatment options, and expected outcomes.
Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, case discussions, and departmental meetings to ensure coordinated care and optimal patient outcomes.

Job Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience as Ophthalmology Consultant (Mandatory).
Preferred: Minimum 1 year’s work experience in the Gulf Cooperation Council (Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain).
