Job Summary

The Senior Paramedic will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of patients requesting non-emergency medical services as outlined in the Clinical Practice Guidelines. They will maintain the operational and functional readiness of the ground ambulance, the medical equipment, and other necessary equipment to ensure a smooth continuum of non-emergency medical transport. They will provide inter-hospital advanced life support care from patient pick up until patient care is relinquished to the accepting medical facility or other destination. S/He will be responsible for requesting further clinical resources if the situation is outside of their particular Scope of Practice. 

The Senior Paramedics working in medically supervised and clinically governed specialist units may undertake other clinical activities within individual competencies as directed by a licensed physician.

Job Responsibilities 2

GENERAL DUTIES:

Maintains operational and functional readiness of the Ground Ambulance by ensuring compliance with minimum stock requirements and replenishing supplies as needed, inspecting equipment to ensure proper function, cleaning all equipment, and monitoring fuel status and readiness of the ambulance.

Makes sure the vehicle and equipment checklist are completed at the beginning of each assigned shift.

Oversees the work of paramedics and basic paramedics and ensures that they are performing their jobs safely and effectively.

Plans and directs the activities of paramedics working under their supervision.

Continues to monitor the patient during transport in a specially equipped vehicle according to established medical protocols.

Complies with the timely investigation and responds to complaints and queries regarding transportation in collaboration with their team and colleagues in other departments. 

Additional Responsibilities 3

Accurately triages and prioritizes patients, including in emergency situations escalating to relevant care team members.

Undertakes a holistic assessment involving the patient, family, and other healthcare providers, as appropriate, to determine the needs, concerns, problems, issues, and/or diagnoses that serve as a basis for care planning while under the Paramedics care.

Performs and evaluates the results of basic diagnostic procedures.

Assesses, initiates care, monitors, and manages patients in accordance with physician-approved clinical practice guidelines and care pathways.

Educates the patient, family members/other caregivers as to the planned therapy and goals.

Performs other duties as required.

Job Knowledge & Skills

Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other medical personnel, patients, and family.

Ability to read, write, and communicate professionally and effectively with employees and managers.

Ability to communicate verbally via telephone and radio equipment.

Ability to write simple correspondence and reports.

Knowledge of company protocols, operational procedures, and safety policies.

Registration as Paramedic or equivalent as per Qatar Council for Health Care Practitioner (Ministry of Health) Regulations. 

Preferably already certified with ILS, BLS, ACLS, ITLS, PLS.

Ability to obtain an active and unencumbered driving license in Qatar.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Critical thinking and decision making in stressful situations.

Job Experience

5 years demonstrated experience in emergency-related Healthcare field (Such as: trauma, Service, ICU, and Emergency).

2 years of experience in GCC (preferred).
