Job Summary

    The Senior Quantity Surveyor prepares all costs aspects of civil and building works on projects, from the inception to final account. To ensure all expenditure is kept to a minimum and all revenue is maximized as early as possible all without compromising Employer/Subcontractor relationship.

Job Responsibilities 1

Perform detailed quantity takeoff for civil, architectural, structural, MEP, and external works from 2D drawings, BIM models, and other design documents. 

Interpret & review of drawings to identify any difference to tender requirements and rise queries against BOQ & specification

Follow up with site construction team and technical team for collecting the progress details.

Obtain and expand knowledge base on all QS related matters related to specific projects. Through the achievement of this all commercial and contractual matter.

Verify quantities against design changes, tender addenda, and revised drawings.

Ensure takeoffs are in line with project specifications, codes, and measurement standards (e.g., CESMM, POMI, NRM).

Cross-check and validate quantities with junior QS staff, consultants, and subcontractors.

 

Job Responsibilities 2

Ensure Contractual and Commercial Support and Correspondence “Letter Writing”.

Maintain organized records of takeoff calculations and source drawings for audit purposes.

Compile Tender Stage Enquiries for Sub Contract Trades, Materials Suppliers & Pricing “direct work” trades.

projections within 1 week of the Valuation submission.

Evaluates Quotation obtained from different suppliers & subcontractors, ensure quantities and specifications are in line with tender and projects specifications.

Site Visit and Pre- Tender meeting with the Client/ Engineer applications and submitted on time to the Employer.

Ensure that all Packages preparation and Tendering Procedures are conformed with, and correctly coordinated.

Mentor and guide junior QS team members on measurement techniques.

Identify opportunities for automation and improved accuracy using software tools.

Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and time management.

Strong communication skills to coordinate across departments and with external stakeholders.

Additional Responsibilities 3

Job Knowledge & Skills

Experience in the use of computer based quantification and knowledge in using systems such as CCS

(Candy).

Knowledge in using Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, Power point, outlook express

etc.).Experience in the optimal use of AutoCAD for Quantity Takeoff.

Knowledge in preparation of Bill of Quantities with standard method of measurement.

Knowledge in Principles of Measurement (International) 1979, NRM2 CESSMMIII, QSSM, QCS, FIDIC

Knowledge in using Microsoft office Applications i.e. Excel, PowerPoint etc.

ERP knowledge preferably SAP functional skills are a requirement to be successful in this role.

Job Experience

Minimum 8 year(s) working experience, 5 year(s) relevant working experience, 2 year (s) GCC is a plus

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering
Professional Qualification in Quantity Surveying or any related field
