Job Summary

The Senior Technical Engineer performs design management of various types of projects residential commercial, warehouse/industrial buildings. Reviews the structural design of projects. Initiates value engineering exercises and identifies potential issues/constraints in design and construction during the early stages of design. Checks appropriateness of structural system and correctness of design criteria proposed by consultants. Provides direction to consultants to ensure complete submission of structural deliverables within project schedule. Performs the task of managing the documentation of the structural drawings in coordination with architectural and MEP Works.

Job Responsibilities 1

Reviews the design criteria (basic structural components, geotechnical properties, wind loads, seismic loads, loads, fire protection ….) and ensure adequacy of design.

Analyzes the structural elements to ensure the quality of the design.

Analyzes and reviews the loading plan and ensure compliance with codes and the project operational purpose.

Determines the pressures that each component, such as a beam or lintel, will experience from other parts of the structure due to human use or environmental pressures such as weather or earthquakes.

Studies the impact of the temporary works (formwork, tower cranes foundations and supports) on the structural elements, provide calculations, details and ensure compliance.

Provides safe structural solutions to suite the architectural & MEP requirements.

Prepares / contributes in preparation of the structural Shop DWG list.

Reviews the IFC DWGs (Architectural, Structural and MEP) to ensure coordination with all disciplines.

Job Responsibilities 2

Manages the structural draftsman in preparation of structural shop DWGs and ensure efficiency and quality.

Liaises with the subcontractors to produce and deliver structural shop DWGs (by specialist) as per the time schedule.

Reviews the produced shop DWGs (self performance and subcontractor SD) and ensure coordination with all disciplines, quality and accuracy.

Ensures the accuracy of the BBS and other structural production schedules.

Reviews the Formwork DWGs and ensure adequacy of design and review Formwork MOS and coordinate the requirements with the concrete works.

Ensures to produce the General arrangement DWGs for all horizontal and vertical elements in coordination with the Architects and MEP engineers.

Ensures that all submitted DWGs are signed by all discipline engineers (Architects, MEP, specialists).

Submits coordinated structural shop DWGs, BBS, other technical submittals, structural calculation, geotechnical reports, material submittals on time as per the project time schedule.

Job Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of STAAD Software.Extensive structural knowledge for Buildings, Heavy Civils and Infrastructure works.Knowledge in preparing reports, designs and drawings.Good level of previous façade engineering design experience including analysis of structures and detailed design of elements in all major materials. Knowledge of Project Management.Practical knowledge and ability in Structural Engineering design and construction.Working knowledge of Auto Cad or other drafting softwareExtensive experience of structural engineering building design on multi-disciplinary building envelope projects

• ERP knowledge preferably SAP functional skills are a requirement to be successful in this role.
