Job Summary

Responsible for diagnosing presence and stage of diseases using laboratory techniques and patient specimens.

Job Responsibilities 1

Assists in developing the medical laboratory strategic plan and objectives.

Reviews and approves new/revised Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) pertaining to pathology.

Ensures that policies are implemented and followed by the staff.

Reports to the laboratory head and accepts delegation as and when required.

Analyses, summarizes, and endorses regular operational & performance reports, including the technical evaluation of instruments & kits.

Provides expert clinical and/or surgical pathology guidance to referring physicians and patients

Directs laboratory testing by technologists; reviews and interprets test results; decide, requests further tests if required.

Formulates an effective and efficient quality assurance program(s) for the laboratory, including creating appropriate documentation and performing periodic reviews.

Participates in audits or reviews conducted by internal auditing teams, accreditation bodies, and national healthcare committees (e.g., MoPH).

Job Responsibilities 2

Conducts on-site employee training in laboratory medicine as required for special projects or continuing education.

Assumes an active role in development, optimization, and validation of new and existing assays in partnership with laboratory colleagues, business development representatives and/or project management teams.

Supervises instrument maintenance and inventory management for efficient and high-quality laboratory operations.

Participates on committees and in professional activities as deemed appropriate by the HOD

Addresses complaints / suggestions from staff and users of laboratory services

Ensures a safe lab environment and the safety of lab personnel.

Works with the HOD to ensure appropriate clinical coverage including on-call services.

Commits to and supports clinical meetings with clinicians and others

Liaises with colleagues, Allied Health staff, nursing, administrative and support services staff for additional input as required.

Job Knowledge & Skills

Must be eligible for DHP (Qatar) Medical License in Laboratory medicine and fulfil the CPD requirements for maintaining licensure.

Must be able to work independently for the given job assignment,

Must be a self-directed and motivated individual with excellent communication skills

Must have meticulous attention to details, an ability to cross reference information, ability to prioritize work, and a good knowledge of standard office equipment, software and processes

Must be an outstanding team member with strong professional attitude towards patients and physicians and colleagues.

Strong Knowledge of the Healthcare industry.

Leadership experience in Speciality preferred.

Previous Commissioning of an Acute Care Facility highly desirable

Comprehensive knowledge of Accreditation Process in an acute Healthcare Facility with particular emphasis on JCI and preferably in more than one facility

Demonstrated ability to work within a matrix organization integrating knowledge of, and respect for, functions and reporting    lines of other departments.

High degree of self-organization, as well as highly successful communication, relationship, and engagement skills.

Job Experience

Must have MoPH approved post graduate qualification in Pathology or a sub-specialty of Pathology with at least 5 years of experience.

Minimum 1 year in GCC (preferred)

Education

Master's degree in Pathology or any related field
