Job Summary

The Support Services Officer plays a vital role in supporting the efficient and hygienic delivery of services related to meals, housekeeping, security, maintenance, waste management, and other operational functions within the hospital. The Officer will assist in ensuring compliance with health, safety, and operational standards while working closely with hospital staff, contractors, and vendors.

Job Responsibilities 1

Liaises between Clinical Staff and Kitchen team and monitors the delivery of meals for patients, staff, and visitors, to ensure they adhere to dietary and safety standards.

Supports housekeeping operations by ensuring cleanliness and hygiene in hospital wards, operating theatres, and public areas.

Assists with infection control protocols and help with waste segregation efforts across hospital areas.

Assists in the implementation of waste management systems, ensuring the proper disposal of medical, general, and hazardous waste.

Supports waste management contractors to ensure timely and correct disposal procedures are followed.

Aids in the maintenance of hospital laundry services, ensuring the consistent provision of clean linens and uniforms.

Assists in managing relationships with outsourced laundry service providers.

Job Responsibilities 2

Assists in monitoring security operations and help with the coordination of emergency response plans.

Assists with the upkeep of hospital grounds, including gardens, outdoor spaces, and parking areas, to maintain a welcoming and calming environment.

Supports pest control and façade cleaning operations to ensure the hospital's exterior is well-maintained.

Assists in managing the budget for support services, helping to optimize resource use and control costs.

Supports operational policies and procedures in alignment with hospital standards.

Help’s ensure that all services comply with local regulations and hospital policies.

Participates in health and safety audits, assisting in identifying risks and implementing mitigation measures.

Helps foster a positive work environment and support team development and performance evaluations.

Strong ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to maintain accurate records, track inventory, and ensure quality control for services and supplies.

Proactively identify issues and find efficient solutions, especially in high-pressure situations.

High-level interpersonal skills to provide exceptional service to patients, families, and hospital staff.

Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and hospital management systems (e.g., ERP, patient management software).

Strong understanding of confidentiality laws and the ability to handle sensitive information with integrity.

Job Experience

At least 3-4 years of experience in managing support services within a hospital or large healthcare facility.

Experience in Hospitality, facilities management, vendor relations.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Facility Management or any related field
