Job Summary

    The WSD (Water Supply and Distribution) Production Supervisor in WSD operations is to oversee and manage the production and distribution of potable water within a water supply system. They are responsible for supervising and coordinating the operation of water treatment plants, pumping stations, and distribution networks to ensure the reliable and efficient supply of safe drinking water to consumers. Additionally, they oversee the maintenance of equipment and facilities, monitor water quality and compliance with regulatory standards, and implement operational improvements to optimize water production and distribution processes.

Job Responsibilities 1

    Supervise the operation of water treatment plants, pumping stations, and other production facilities to ensure continuous and efficient water supply.

    Provide leadership and supervision to production staff, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing training and guidance as needed.

    Oversee water quality testing and monitoring activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and maintaining water quality parameters within acceptable limits.

    Coordinate and schedule routine maintenance and repair activities for production equipment and facilities to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

    Manage inventory levels of chemicals, spare parts, and other supplies necessary for water production operations, ensuring adequate stock levels and timely procurement.

    Enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for production staff and compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.

    Coordinate emergency response efforts during water supply disruptions, equipment failures, or other incidents, implementing contingency plans and mobilizing resources to restore service promptly.

    Analyze production data and performance metrics to identify trends, monitor efficiency, and identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.

    Liaise with customers, community representatives, and regulatory agencies to address concerns, provide information, and ensure satisfaction with water quality and service delivery.

    Prepare reports, documentation, and records related to production activities, water quality monitoring, maintenance, and regulatory compliance for internal and external stakeholders.

Job Knowledge & Skills

Comprehensive understanding of water treatment processes, including coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection, to oversee production operations effectively.

Knowledge of water quality regulations, standards, and guidelines, such as those set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) or World Health Organization (WHO), to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Skill in operating and maintaining water treatment equipment, pumps, valves, and control systems, as well as troubleshooting equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation.

Leadership and supervisory skills to effectively manage a team of production staff, assign tasks, provide training and guidance, and foster a positive work environment conducive to high performance and productivity.

Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve operational issues, optimize production processes, and implement corrective actions to address water quality concerns or production inefficiencies.

ERP knowledge preferably SAP functional skills are a requirement to be successful in this role.

Education
